Aldis is a lifelong videogame nerd who combines virtual reality with cognitive neuroscience to understand and enhance human performance. Aldis received a Ph.D. in Visual Cognition and Human Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2015, specializing in brain training videogames and neuroenhancement. During his time at UIUC he founded a VR research lab, The Holodeck Project, where he developed VR cognitive tests on the Oculus Rift DK1 . Prior to joining IBM, he was co-founder and CEO of a VR startup developing brain training videogames for the Samsung GearVR headset. His current work at IBM Research uses machine learning to analyze brain activity and predict memory in VR.
